James 1:2-4 "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." Mipeace's Response: This has to be one of the bible verses that I quote the most frequently! It sums up exactly how God desires we act and grow during the struggles, weaknesses, etc. that we all face. Let's insert our own personal trials and temptations into this passage of Scripture and go to Christ who will give us joy and strength, that surpasses all understanding, so that we can overcome. It would seem natural to mope and pout during hardships (and in the past many of us have done that), but when we trust in God (who is almighty) and follow Him, we will understand that those trials will be used to help us to become complete and perfect in Him. Jesus only suffered for awhile, but when the suffering was over, He was resurrected with all power in His hands! We who are in Christ are partakers in Christ's suffering, but remember that the suffering is only temporary and He will make us to rise through it all! Trust Him and joyfully follow the Lord always....Peace! Luke 10:19-20 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpion, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven." Mipeace's Response: I've been feasting on these verses all week! Go back and read the beginning of the chapter to get the whole context. Jesus is speaking to His disciples in these verses. He's letting them know that through His power and authority, He has given them power and authority over all evil. Even nowadays the followers of Christ possess that same authority but, Christ wants us to know that we shouldn't get overly joyful about having power over evil. Trampling on Satan is only a by-product of the one thing that we should fully rejoice in.....as believers and disciples of Christ our names are written in Heaven in the Book of Life! Awesome! Just imagine the author of the universe writing our names in His own personal book and by making the listing in His book we are now the owners of eternal life! What! Praise God! If your name is not already in His book here's how you can get in: 1) Recognize and acknowledge your sin 2)Repent and ask for forgiveness of your sins 3) Do Romans 10:9 (easy, if you believe) and continue to grow daily in your relationship with Jesus Christ! Oh yeah, the fee to get your name in the book was paid on the cross. God bless you. |
